A joint initiative between WAGPET and RDAWA, Medfest is WA’s annual medical conference highlighting the benefits of choosing a career path in rural generalism or rural practice.
Career-focused panel discussions, guest speakers and plenty of educational opportunities awaited guests alongside a regional showcase of Western Australia. Each display was adorned with native florals, culinary delights, locally crafted beer and artwork from the region it championed, which were later given to guests as prizes.
Eager medical students got the chance to practice their advanced suturing skills in a workshop aimed at improving pace, efficiency and accuracy.
Ending the day with live music, beverages and a gourmet feast, a mini ‘Medfest Olympics’ and garden games ensued with prizes including regional hampers and a coveted Hunter Valley Experience containing tickets, flights and accommodation to next years Rural Medicine Australia Gala.
Each guest left Medfest with a branded WAGPET tote bag filled with a customised Lindt/Medfest chocolate bar, branded WAGPET keep cup and all the information they needed on the benefits of GP and RG careers.
