Known Associates Australia
We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, their ancestors and elders and we are committed to reconciliation among all Australians.
Our Story
100% Aboriginally owned, Known Associates Australia is headed up by husband and wife team, Troy and Tamara Cook. The Indigenous focus is two-fold; Known Associates Australia prioritises working with other Indigenous businesses and non-Indigenous allies to strengthen inclusivity in the events and marketing industries and to grow a budding network of progressive, culturally aware businesses who are initiating positive change.
Secondly the company focuses on employment pathways for young people, and an internship program for Indigenous tertiary students who want to enter the world of events. Known Associates Australia offers a coveted internship program focusing on mentoring, training and placing individuals in the events workforce. Interns have the opportunity to be a part of an inclusive team and work on large projects, building their event experience and professional confidence. Through her expertise in running partner company established in 2007, Known Associates Events, Tamara has had great success in training and bolstering budding event and design professionals.
Through Known Associates Australia, she and Troy focus on welcoming, training and creating pathways to place Indigenous people in their desired event management roles.
Between them, Troy and Tamara have over 40 years of events experience. Troy is experienced in event logistics, creative concepts, fundraising strategies, Indigenous aspects, in MC and keynote speaker roles, and much more. Tamara’s event management experience dates back to years in hotel management, US cruise ships and as Events Coordinator at the Fremantle Dockers. In 2007 she established the Known Associates brand and quickly became a leader in the Perth events scene, boasting one of the most trusted brands in Western Australia and broader Australia.

“I wanted to say a genuine thank you for your support in delivering the Aboriginal Supplier Forum this week.
Simply put — the event worked as well as it did because of you.
From planning through to execution, you brought a level of professionalism, organisation and calm that allowed everything to run seamlessly on the day. It is always a fun time with a lot of moving parts, and you handled it with absolute ease. We’ve already received feedback from suppliers that this was one of the best forums they’ve attended — and that is a direct reflection of the experience you helped create.
Really appreciate the partnership — looking forward to working together next year!”
“One of the extremely valuable areas of expertise from the Known Associates teams, was the creativity and innovation that they brought to the table, which enhanced the overall experience of our attendees and saw the 2023 Festival attract the largest number of attendees in its history.
