Reece Group Reconciliation Action Plan Launch & Osborne Park Multisite Opening

Client | Reece Group

Location | Reece Group Osborne Park Multisite

The Brief: Known Associates Australia was tasked with delivering a high quality event for Reece Group Head office. Based in Melbourne and unable to travel to WA due to Covid-19 border restrictions, Reece Group needed a WA based creative team they could trust to understand their brief, put together a detailed proposal, and project manage on the day. The brief was to deliver the national launch of Reece’s Reconciliation Action Plan, and to launch their Osborne Park multisite. They had dignitaries and politicians locked in to attend and required seamless management and clear, consistent communication across the country.

The Proposal: We wanted to make the event high-class, respecting the presence of the VIPs, but still stay true to the grassroots nature of the Reece brand. We explored themes of outdoors, industrial, authentic Indigenous Australian foods and traditional Indigenous dance. We also proposed a fluid event space where people felt welcome and gathered, but not confined. We curated items for the gifts bags sourced from West Australian producers, showcasing local talent. We offered our guide to Indigenous Protocols at Events to the Reece marketing team who found it extremely useful for creating speech notes for their staff, and for a deeper level of understanding for WA events in general.

The Outcome: A national launch to be proud of with Reece Group setting the bar high. Dedication to Reconciliation was shared with staff, dignitaries, VIP customers and other stakeholders - a morning of reflection, connection and celebration. Following a seamless bump-in, our local suppliers unfurled in their glory, contributing to a powerful event for our client. We began with a didgeridoo and Indigenous dance performance before a hushed and respectful crowd, followed by Kevin Fitzgerald’s Welcome to Country and cleansing smoking ceremony. Speeches commenced with an introductory video message from Melbourne HQ, delivered on the enormous anti-glare screen, followed by personal words of praise from Clontarf Academy representative, Doug Harris, and the Honourable Fred Chaney OAM. Morning tea was complemented by the sounds of Cian Cayton’s acoustic performance, as guests mingled and discussed the importance of Reconciliation until the memorable morning came to a close.

"Known Associates delivered above and beyond our expectations when supporting our team to launch our first RAP. The team took the time to understand our brief, developed a creative concept that reflected our values, and created a truly memorable event for our customers and staff."
