Routes Asia Host Stand

Client | Tourism WA

Location | Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre

Known Associates Australia partnered with Tourism WA and Perth Airport to design, build, project-manage, and activate a dynamic host stand for Routes Asia 2025. The immersive space illuminated Perth to 1,000+ global aviation and tourism leaders.

A breathtaking exhibition stand transporting guests through the diverse landscapes and stories of our city and its surrounds, our design honours culture, nature and experience - offering delegates more than just conversation, but an unforgettable journey through WA’s most iconic regions.

Four distinct zones evoked a sensory experience, unified through a luxury executive boardroom adorned with Indigenous artwork ‘The River Speaks’ by proud Nanda Yamatji artist Shannon Walding. Commissioned by Known Associates, the artwork overlays satellite imagery of the region with meaningful storytelling, honouring Country and creating a meaningful foundation for high-level conversations.

BOORLOO | PERTH
From soft grass underfoot to native florals rooted in real soil, the Boorloo zone immerses guests in the beauty of Kings Park. A wooden path leads to a central boardroom, while LED screens show time-lapsed skies from day to night. A sunset skyline mural and layered trees create a 3D natural escape. And our fire pit adds warmth and welcome as guests “sit with an elder” to hear stories of place and heritage through headphone audio immersion, connecting deeply with Whadjuk Noongar Country.

SWAN VALLEY
A delegate favourite, rustic cellar-door charm meets sumptuous hospitality in the Swan Valley quarter. A curated patchwork of texture, our stone walls, creaking floorboards, draping vines, and aromas of fine wine and roasting nuts present depth and evoke the region’s essence. Windows overlooking vineyard vistas, gently move on the breeze and framed photographs add historical storytelling. The space bursts to life with wine and food tastings by day and elegant sundowners by night, hosted by local sommeliers and producers.

WADJEMUP | ROTTNEST ISLAND
The beach floor shifts beneath guests’ feet thanks to LED movement, creating the illusion of waves lapping against sandy shores. Surrounded by snorkels, beach gear, and Rottnest bikes, delegates are transported straight to island time. A breathtaking wall of turquoise ocean captures Wadjemup’s essence, while an AI-powered photobooth delivers iconic Quokka selfies. A roving quokka mascot ensures the moment goes from digital delight to real-life joy.

WALYALUP | FREMANTLE
Step into the soul of Fremantle via our commissioned 3D mural by the incredible Graeme Richards, capturing the historic Freo Markets’ vivacious entrance. Artist brushstrokes bring icons like Ciccerello’s, Fishing Boat Harbour, and the Containbow to life, as if you’re jumping, Mary Poppins-style, into the artwork. Golden seahorse and siren-of-the-sea handles add design interest in a nod to our famous port. Activated with flavour-packed tastes of Freo, charming street performers, and curiosities of the town, this eclectic, energetic, full-colour quarter is a love letter to Freo’s spirit.

MEETING ZONE & SEATING
At the heart of the activation, our four destination zones are unified by a luxury executive boardroom, the floor adorned with Indigenous artwork ‘The River Speaks’ by proud Nanda Yamatji artist Shannon Walding. This magnificent art piece also spilled into the shared catering and meeting spaces outside the host stand.

Arched windows look out onto Wadjemup and Boorloo. Anchored by an oakwood table and a dramatic chandelier centrepiece, native florals and styling elements of the sea strike the perfect balance between business and beauty. A mirror expands the space visually, while WA imagery plays gently in the background of a central screen between meetings.

An extension of the main activation, the seating area offers a relaxed yet refined setting for conversation and connection. The same Indigenous artwork from the central space flows across the flooring and corner walls, grounding the area in story and Country. A mix of organic furniture and warm textures creates a welcoming atmosphere, inviting delegates to pause, reflect, or engage in meaningful dialogue.
